  • 1 cup, 4 tablespoons, 3/4 teaspoons, 1-7/8 pinches Beer
  • 1 pound, 1-2/3 ounces, weight Brown Sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Ground Cloves
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon Ground Ginger
  • 1 pound, 1-2/3 ounces, weight All-purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Soda

Directions

    Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Generously butter a loaf pan (approximately 2-litre size). In a bowl combine the beer and sugar. Add spices, flour and baking soda together. Stir and pour into pan. Bake for approximately one hour and let it cool before removing it from the pan. Serve cut into slices and smeared with chilled butter.
