- 1 c. onion, finely chopped
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1 c. celery, chopped
- 2 c. potatoes, diced
- 3/4 c. margarine
- 3/4 c. flour
- 1 qt. half and half
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- dash of pepper
Directions

1Drain clams; set aside, retaining liquid.

2Brown onion in oil. Add vegetables; barely cover with water.

3Add clam juice.

4Simmer until tender.

5In a 5-quart saucepan, melt margarine.

6Add flour, then half and half to make a white sauce.

7Add clams, vegetables in their broths and seasonings.

8Simmer.
