  • 1 can minced clams
  • 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. paprika
  • dash of pepper
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • Crisco for deep frying

Directions

    Drain clams, reserving 1/4 cup juice.

    Combine flour, baking powder, salt, paprika and pepper.

    Stir in clams and onion. Combine clam juice and egg.

    Add to flour mixture and stir until well blended.

    Heat Crisco to 365° in deep saucepan.

    (Do not use basket.)

    Drop level tablespoons of clam mixture into hot Crisco. Fry several at a time for 3 1/2 minutes.

    Drain on paper towels. Serve with tartar sauce.
