- 7 lb. cucumbers, sliced 1/4-inch thick
- 1 gal. water
- 2 c. lime
- 1 1/2 c. salt
- 1 gal. water
- 1/2 c. alum
- 2 qt. vinegar
- 1/2 box pickling spices
- 5 lb. sugar
Directions

1Combine cucumbers, 1 gallon water and lime.

2Let set overnight; drain.

3Add the salt.

4Let set 4 hours; drain.

5Cover with water; let set 2 hours, drain.

6Add 1 gallon water and the alum.

7Boil and set 20 minutes; drain.

8Put the vinegar in kettle with the pickling spices and sugar.

9Simmer 15 or 20 minutes.

10Can and seal.
