- 1 c. sifted flour
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 3/4 c. shredded coconut
- 1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Sift together and set aside 1 cup flour, brown sugar and salt. Cut in until fine crumbled shortening.

2Pat into greased 8-inch square pan.

3Bake at 350° for 15 minutes.

4Sift together and set aside 1/4 cup flour, baking powder and salt.

5Beat until very thick eggs and brown sugar.

6Add to flour mixture chocolate chips and vanilla.

7Spread over baked mixture.

8Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.

9Yield: 32 (2 x 1-inch) bars.
