English Apple Pie

- 1/2 c. butter or margarine
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 3 Tbsp. water
- 1/2 c. chopped pecans
- 4 large cooking apples, peeled and sliced (about 6 c.)
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- heavy cream, half and half or ice cream (optional)
Directions

1In medium size bowl, beat butter and brown sugar with wooden spoon or electric mixer until pale and fluffy.

2Stir in flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and the water until smooth and thick.

3Stir in pecans.

4Mound apples in 9-inch pie plate.

5Mix granulated sugar with remaining cinnamon; sprinkle over apples.

6Spoon pecan topping over apples and dollops.

7Bake on lowest rack of preheated 375° oven for 45 to 50 minutes until apples are tender when pierced with a skewer.

8Serve in bowls with the cream or ice cream.
