  • 1 c. shortening (half butter)
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 2/3 c. sifted cake flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • milk from 1 coconut

Directions

    Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually.

    Cream until mixture is very fluffy.

    Add eggs, beat mixture until light and fluffy. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together; add to mixture alternately with milk until milk and dry ingredients have all been added.

    Add vanilla.

    Pour into three greased cake pans and bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
