  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 3 tsp. soda

Directions

    Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs one at a time.

    Mix well, then add applesauce.

    Sift dry ingredients together and add slowly to mixture.

    Mix well.

    Bake in greased tube pan for 1 hour at 325°.

    Candied fruits, raisins and nuts may be added for fruit cake.
