  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1 c. milk
  • 2 sticks margarine, whipped
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. vegetable shortening

    Cream margarine, shortening and sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each.

    Add flour and milk alternately.

    Stir in vanilla.

    Save 1/2 cup batter to add to icing.

    Bake in a lightly greased tube pan at 300° for 1 1/2 hours or until done.
