  • 1 c. butter (2 sticks)
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 c. ground almonds (ground walnuts may be substituted)
  • 2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg gradually.

    Stir in almonds and flour.

    Wrap in plastic and let rest in refrigerator for one hour.

    Remove from refrigerator and roll out into long cylinder, about 2 inches in diameter.

    Cut in 1/8-inch slices.

    Press out with a fork.

    Lay on ungreased cookie sheets and bake for 10 minutes until lightly browned around edges.

    Makes about 5 dozen.
