  • 1 German chocolate cake mix
  • 14 to 16 oz. caramels
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 3/4 c. chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 c. chopped pecans

Directions

    Prepare cake mix according to box instructions.

    Pour half of this mixture into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. (Don't flour pan.) This is the crust.

    Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 350°.

    Meanwhile, melt caramels with margarine and milk.

    Pour over baked crust. Sprinkle chocolate chips and nuts over caramel mixture.

    Spread remaining batter over top.

    Bake for 15 minutes at 350°, then bake for 5 minutes at 325°.
