- 1 cup split peas
- 6 cups boiling water
- 1 ham bone
- 1 -2 onion, chopped
- 1 carrot, diced
- salt and pepper
- 1 potato, sliced
Directions

1Add water to peas, boil 2 minutes, remove from heat, cover tightly and soak 1 hour.

2Add remaining ingredients.

3Cook slowly till peas are tender, 45 minutes.

4Remove ham bone.

5Rub peas through sieve or leave unstrained, season.

6If soup is too thick, add water.

7Garnish with ham.
