  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. applesauce (unsweetened)
  • 1 c. raisins, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. flour (to coat raisins)
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 2 1/2 c. sifted flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda, mixed with 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

    Cream the sugar and shortening.

    Add applesauce and soda water.

    Mix and sift dry ingredients.

    Add them with floured raisins to the first mixture.

    Beat well.

    Pour into a greased tube pan.

    Bake 35 minutes at 350°.
