  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. nuts
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 egg

Directions

    Combine the dates, boiling water and soda; let stand until cool.

    Mix the remaining ingredients with date mixture and pour into a 6 x 12-inch or a 9 x 9-inch pan.

    Bake in a moderate oven for 30 minutes.
