  • 4 egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 tsp. cornstarch
  • 2 tsp. white wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. heavy cream, chilled
  • 2 to 3 c. strawberries, sliced and sprinkled with sugar
  • Grand Marnier

    Preheat oven to 275°.

    Beat egg whites, salt and cream of tartar together in bowl until the whites hold a stiff peak.

    Add the sugar gradually, beating until mixture becomes stiff and glossy.

    Beat in cornstarch, then vinegar and vanilla.
