- 1 gal. cucumbers
- 1 c. canning salt
- 2 tsp. turmeric
- 2 tsp. alum
- 6 c. sugar
- 4 c. vinegar
- 4 tsp. pickling spice
- water
Directions

1Select firm cucumbers.

2Wash.

3Place in gallon container.

4Mix salt with water to cover pickles.

5Let stand 4 days.

6Remove, wash and slice to desired thickness.

7Place in large container and cover with turmeric, alum and water solution.

8Let stand 10 hours or overnight.

9Mix sugar, vinegar and pickling spice.

10Cook to boiling stage.

11Pack sliced cucumbers in hot jars and cover with syrup.

12Seal.

13Let stand 1 week before eating.

14Refrigeration one day makes pickles more crispy.
